A report by UNHCR in Jordan revealed a financing gap estimated at $239 million within the current 2023 budget.
The report states that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Jordan received 15% of its financial needs in Jordan in the new fiscal year 2023, pointing out that the current year’s budget should be $390 million, according to the Ammon Agency. .
In the report, it was stated that this amount was 60 million dollars until the current April.
Earlier, UNHCR in a report disclosed the number of Syrian refugees returning from Jordan to Syria, despite the United Nations’ insistence that conditions in the country do not allow the return of refugees on a large scale.
According to the news of the “Kingdom of Jordan Channel” website quoting UNHCR, 3,325 Syrian refugees have returned to their country from Jordan since the beginning of this year.
From 2016 to the end of last month, the number of returnees from Jordan to Syria reached 341,500 Syrian refugees, including 64,278 Syrian refugees residing in Jordan.
The Commission said: “The figures for returnees to Syria are figures verified or monitored by the Commission and do not reflect the exact number of returnees, which could be much higher.”
According to official statistics, the number of Syrians in Jordan is estimated at 1.3 million, including 676,787 refugees and asylum seekers registered with UNHCR until last month.
