Sinan Ogan, the ATA Alliance’s presidential candidate for Turkey, has promised to send Syrian refugees back to their countries within a year if he comes to power.
Claiming that the number of Syrians in Turkey has reached 13 million, Ogan said that if he wins the elections, he will send them back to Syria within a year at the latest.
Ogan claimed that “many of the advantages provided to asylum seekers and fugitives are not given to the citizens of the Turkish state”.
“If a member of the Turkish state’s health insurance expires, they have to pay for treatment, while refugees do not,” he said.
The file of repatriation of Syrian refugees is one of the most used files by the Turkish opposition in their election programs for the upcoming presidential elections.
Syrian refugees in Turkey are subjected to racist abuses and provocations by opposition parties amid constant threats to be sent back to their country if they come to power, whatever the conditions awaiting them in Syria.
