A civilian who was tortured died in SDF prisons in the Raqqa Governorate in northeastern Syria.

Activists told “Global Justice Syria News” that civilian Mahidi Hussein al-Khalaf died under torture in SDG prisons ten months after his arrest.

Sources said Khalaf resides in the Syrian National Army-controlled Tal Abyad area in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

About ten months ago, al-Khalaf had to go to Raqqa city because of heart problems and had to see a doctor.

He was arrested on charges of doing business with the Syrian National Army while passing through one of the SDF checkpoints.

Months later, one of the inmates held in Raqqa central prison informed relatives of his successor that he was in that prison.

His wife was able to visit him after paying bribes to SDF leaders, confirming that she did not recognize him because he had lost his memory as a result of torture.

He was buried in Ain al-Arous town of Tel Abyad city in Raqqa countryside yesterday.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time civilians have died under torture in SDF prisons, as the Syrian Network for Human Rights has confirmed that dozens have been killed in this way.
