The Syrian Network for Human Rights confirmed that 158 arrests were documented in Syria in April, including Syrians forcibly deported from Lebanon.
The network said it recorded at least 158 cases of arbitrary arrests and detentions, including 5 children and 8 women, of which 133 turned into enforced disappearances last month.
He stated that the Syrian regime forces arrested 87 people, including a child and 3 women, while the SDF arrested 39 people, including 4 children.
The report said that most arrests in Syria were made without a judicial order while the victim was passing through a checkpoint or during raids.
The report also confirms that the Syrian regime forces have not stopped tracking and targeting civilians in areas under their control because of their political opposition and views guaranteed by the Syrian constitution and international law.
The Network thought that this proved once again the fact that no Syrian citizen can feel safe from arrest. Because it is carried out by security forces away from the judiciary, without relying on the law and an independent judiciary, and often detention turns into enforced disappearance.
“Areas under the control of the Syrian regime cannot constitute a safe haven for their inhabitants, and rather are not safe havens for returning refugees or displaced persons.”
The report also emphasizes that stability and security will not remain in light of the survival of the same security agencies that have committed crimes against humanity since 2011 and continue to this day.
