The Syrian Independence Alliance (SIA), along with its movements and organizations, extends its congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his well-deserved victory in the recent U.S. elections. This victory reflects the need of both the United States and the world for strong, credible leadership in the White House, worthy of United States’ position as a superpower in a world troubled by wars and crises.
We in the SIA appreciate President Trump’s positive stance towards the Syrian people, which we witnessed during his first term, along with his recognition of their suffering and aspirations for freedom and dignity. Throughout his political career, Trump has taken firm and strict positions against the Syrian regime and its president, Bashar al-Assad, condemning the crimes and violations committed against the Syrian people.
We also value his clear stance against Iranian influence in Syria and the region, as he has repeatedly rejected Iran’s expansionist policies that contribute to destabilizing the region and fueling violence and conflicts. We view these firm positions against the Syrian regime and Iranian forces as a hopeful sign of genuine, positive change that will serve the interests of the Syrian people and restore stability to the region as a whole.
Through the organizations within the SIA, we have supported President Trump’s campaign step by step, with members of our board meeting with him personally, as well as with prominent figures in whom he places his trust, and encouraging his engagement with the Arab and Muslim communities in key states. Therefore, our alliance expresses its hope that this victory marks the beginning of a new phase of constructive cooperation between the U.S. administration and the Syrian people, especially in supporting Syrians’ aspirations for true freedom and independence and putting an end to the prolonged suffering of the Syrian people. We are confident that President-elect Trump will help shape policies that support regional stability and limit Iranian and Russian influence, which sustains Assad’s criminal regime and obstructs the Syrian people’s right to self-determination.
Through our work in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, the SIA looks forward to strengthening a solid partnership with the upcoming U.S. administration, contributing to a better future for Syria, where its people can enjoy security and democracy, and build a free and independent Syria. This will serve the interests of both the Syrian and American peoples and promote peace and stability on a global level.
